Museum of Arts/SciencesThe Museum of Arts and Sciences is the cultural centerpiece of East-Central Florida with nine permanent exhibitions as well as a newly created environmental center inside a naturally preserved Florida hammock. Located on a beautiful 90-acre park, the museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and offers a variety of attractions for families, including a children’s wing with hands-on science displays; a 12-foot high, 130,000-year-old skeleton of a ground sloth; the largest public Coca-Cola memorabilia collection outside of the company’s headquarters in Atlanta; and a planetarium with shows of the night sky. A centerpiece of its art collections is the paintings that Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista donated to the city of Daytona in 1956 as well as changing displays of Chinese art and American paintings and furniture.
