After your trip to the St. Pete Beaches, stroll the newly revitalized area of downtown St. Petersburg and visit the oldest Museum in the city, the Museum of Fine Arts. Housed in a Mediterranean-style waterfront villa, the Museum’s 4,000 works comprise the only comprehensive art collection on Florida’s west coast, spanning the 17th through 21st centuries. Highlights include the Museum’s stellar French impressionist paintings, the photography gallery, the Steuben glass collection, as well as ancient Asian, Greek and Roman, African and Native American, and pre-Columbian objects.
Among the major European artists represented in the collection are Vigée-Lebrun, Cézanne, Monet, Morisot, Gauguin, Renoir, and Rodin. The American holdings include works by Whistler, Inness, Bellows, Henri, Luks, O’Keeffe, Rauschenberg, and Rosenquist.
